Identifying the S.T. Dupont New Ligne 1 Lighter

With the reintroduction of the Ligne 1 in 2026, S.T. Dupont has brought back one of its most important designs — now updated with modern features while preserving its original proportions. Because of its similarity in name to vintage Ligne 1 models, it’s important to understand how to correctly identify the New Ligne 1.

This guide will help you confirm whether your lighter is part of the updated Ligne 1 collection.

Overall Size and Shape

The New Ligne 1 maintains the classic rectangular form associated with the model but with updated proportions. It is slightly taller than the original Ligne 1 Small, shorter than the Ligne 1 Tall, and thinner than both, giving it a more balanced and refined feel in hand.

In terms of thickness, it is comparable to the Ligne 2, making it slimmer than vintage Ligne 1 models while still retaining a substantial presence.

Flame Type: Double Soft Flame

One of the most important identifying features of the New Ligne 1 is its double soft yellow flame.

-Produces two parallel soft flames

-Designed for a smooth, even light

-Does not feature a torch flame

This is a key difference from many modern S.T. Dupont lighters, which often use jet flames. It also differs from earlier Ligne 1 models, which had a single soft flame.

Bottom Layout: Refill and Adjustment

Unlike vintage Ligne 1 lighters, the New Ligne 1 features a modernized bottom layout:

-Refill valve located on the bottom

-Flame adjustment screw also on the bottom

-No top-mounted adjustment

This brings the design more in line with newer Dupont models such as the Ligne 2 and Le Grand.

The New Ligne 1 features the updated S.T. Dupont logo, which is one of the easiest ways to distinguish it from vintage models. The modern font is cleaner and more refined compared to earlier engravings.
