The Conklin Pen Company® was founded in 1898 in Toledo, Ohio, during what many call the golden era of fountain pens. Known for innovation, craftsmanship, and timeless design, Conklin quickly became one of the most prominent pen manufacturers of the early 20th century. Rise, Pause, and Revival Conklin built its reputation on high-quality workmanship and pioneering features like the Crescent Filler, one of the world’s first self-filling fountain pens. Its designs were admired worldwide, earning the brand recognition among writers and collectors alike. By the mid-1900s, however, production ceased in 1955 as the industry shifted away from fountain pens.
The story didn’t end there. In 2000, Yafa Pen Company purchased Conklin, and since 2009 has been its official worldwide distributor. With more than 40 years of experience in fine writing, Yafa has restored Conklin’s reputation for artistry and quality, producing pens that once again inspire collectors, professionals, and enthusiasts across generations.
